Take action to embed First Nations-led cultural heritage protection in your business and investment practices. The Dhawura Ngilan (Remembering Country) Business and Investor Initiative offers tools and resources to help your organisation get started:
1. Download the Dhawura Ngilan Principles and Guide
The Dhawura Ngilan Principles are twenty interconnected standards that reflect the expectations of First Nations communities across six pillars:
- Respect and Self-Determination
- Collaboration and Consent
- Truth and Holistic Heritage
- Caring for Country and Culture
- Supporting First Nations Prosperity
- Advocacy and Leadership
The Implementation Guide offers practical steps for embedding the Principles with key actions for businesses as well as due diligence questions and red flags for investors.
2. Watch the Webinar
The webinar How businesses and investors can protect our unique Indigenous Heritage provides a great introduction to the Dhawura Ngilan Principles from their lead author, Dr Terri Janke, along with practical implementation insights from representatives of Lendlease, BHP, and the Clean Energy Finance Corporation.
3. Start Your Self-Assessment
Review your organisation’s practices and identify ways to better align with the Dhawura Ngilan framework using the Self-Assessment Tool (Excel file, no macros or data transmission). If you would like your results industry-benchmarked, please reach out.
4. Engage with the Initiative
Connect with our team for support with applying the Principles and Guide or conducting a self-assessment, and stay updated on new resources, tools, and workshops.
