The MCA are partnering with the NNTC to integrate Dhawura Ngilan into the globally recognised Towards Sustainable Mining framework.

On this Mabo Day the minerals industry acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, heritage, knowledge and native title rights that have supported deeper collaboration and partnerships between industry and Traditional Owners.

Partnerships are key to achieve the aim of a growing, responsible minerals industry where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander collaboration is integral and entrepreneurship thrives. And the MCA supports the work of the The Mabo Centre and the National Native Title Council as we work toward our common goals by building on our strengths and commitments, leveraging each other’s innovation, including leading practice guidance, standards and systems.

The Australian minerals industry was an early supporter of Dhawura Ngilan: Business and Investor Initiative which has been championed by the National Native Title Council. Working in partnership, the MCA and NNTC are seeking ways to integrate Dhawura Ngilan into the globally recognised Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) framework and ensuring Traditional Owner views are considered internationally through the Consolidated Mining Standards Initiative.
